At Avenue Physio, our mission has always been simple: to help people move better, feel better, and live better through one-on-one, evidence-based physiotherapy and exceptional customer service.
From day one, our focus has been people, listening to every story, understanding every goal, and providing individualized care that makes a lasting difference.
Our History
The clinic first opened its doors in 1984 as Fifth Ave Physio, right in the heart of downtown Calgary.
Since then, we’ve helped more than 35,000 Calgarians restore movement, reduce pain, and return to doing what they love, making us the longest-standing physiotherapy clinic in Calgary’s downtown core.
Over the decades, our clinic has had three owners and four locations, three along Fifth Avenue SW and one in the Shell Centre on Fourth Avenue SW. Each move reflected growth, evolution, and a deeper commitment to serving Calgarians with the highest level of physiotherapy care.
Recognizing the need to keep things simple and accessible for our loyal patients, our most recent move brought a new name and a fresh energy: Avenue Physio.
In April 2024, we opened our doors at Stephen Avenue Place, a bright, modern space filled with natural light, easy access via the C-Train, and the same trusted faces you’ve known for years.
New space. New name. Same heart.
Leadership and Focus
In 2014, Kelly Barrie succeeded Mimi Chiu as owner of the clinic, continuing a legacy built on professionalism, integrity, and results.
Kelly first joined the team in 1998, becoming an integral part of shaping the clinic’s focus on evidence-based treatment and advanced manual therapy through ongoing learning and mentorship.
Unlike many clinics that diversify into numerous wellness services, Fifth Ave Physio, and now Avenue Physio, has always stayed laser-focused on physiotherapy.
Our goal has never been to offer everything, but to excel in one thing: delivering the highest-quality physiotherapy care possible.
