Our approach is patient centered, evidence-based, and collaborative built around four key stages:Discover, Restore, Thrive, Sustain. Everything we do is focused on helping you achieve lasting results, not just short-term relief.
At Avenue Physio, we take the time to listen, understand your story, and uncover what’s really holding you back, whether that’s a physical limitation, a movement pattern, or how your body and nervous system have adapted in response to pain.

At Avenue Physio, your entire session is one-on-one with a registered physiotherapist. There are no assistants and no overlapping appointments, so you get our full attention every minute.
We use a combination of advanced manual therapy, movement retraining, and individualized exercise programs to provide care that is grounded in evidence and focused on lasting results.
As downtown Calgary’s longest-standing physiotherapy clinic, we’ve been helping people move better since 1984. Our patients trust us for our experience, genuine care, and the consistent results we deliver.
No, you can book directly with us anytime. Physiotherapists in Alberta are primary contact practitioners, which means you don’t need a doctor’s referral to start treatment.
However, some extended health insurance plans may require a referral or doctor’s note for reimbursement, so it’s a good idea to check your coverage before your first appointment. Our team is happy to help if you have questions about your benefits or direct billing options.
Your first visit is a one-hour assessment. We take the time to listen to your story, understand your goals, and complete a detailed movement and physical exam to find the root cause of your symptoms.
Your physiotherapist will explain their findings, outline a personalized treatment plan, and show you what you can start working on at home. You’ll receive treatment during your first visit so we can start helping you move and feel better right away.
Yes, most extended health plans include coverage for physiotherapy. We offer direct billing to many major insurance providers, including Alberta Blue Cross, Canada Life, Manulife, Sun Life, Green Shield, Desjardins, and many others.
If your treatment is related to a motor vehicle accident (MVA) or workplace injury (WCB), physiotherapy is also covered under those programs. Our team can help with the forms and guide you through the process.
Because every plan is different, it’s a good idea to review your coverage or contact your provider before your first appointment. While we can’t see how much coverage you have, we’re happy to help with any billing questions you may have.
It depends on your injury, goals, and how your body responds to treatment. Some people notice improvement within a few sessions, while others need a longer program to restore full strength, mobility, and confidence.
Because all of your sessions at Avenue Physio are one-on-one with a registered physiotherapist, your care is focused and continually adjusted to your progress. Research shows that patients who receive one-on-one care recover up to 30% faster and are 40% more likely to complete their full treatment plan compared to those treated in shared settings.
Your physiotherapist will explain what to expect and work with you each step of the way to help you reach your goals.
