Sports massage is not a single modality but a combination of massage techniques that can include effleurage (sliding, stroking movements), petrissage (tissue kneading, rolling and pressure), friction (oscillating pressure across the fibers), and myofascial release.
DOMS (delayed onset of muscle soreness) affects both our elite athletes and our beginners who haven’t worked out for a long time. The muscle pain, fatigue and stiffness that you experience is a result of microscopic tears in your muscle fibers. Your body responds to this damage by increasing inflammation, which may lead to a delayed onset of soreness in the muscles
