You don’t have to wait until the clinic opens. You don’t have to call during your workday. And you don’t have to ask someone to read out every available appointment while you compare your calendar.
You can see what’s available and choose the time that works best for you.
Research into online healthcare scheduling supports what you might expect: patients value the convenience, accessibility and ability to choose appointments that fit their schedules.
But we don’t think online booking needs to be more complicated than that.
Sometimes technology is useful simply because it saves you time.
But Sometimes It’s Better to Talk to a Human
This is where our front desk team comes in.
And we may be a little biased, but they are pretty great. Our admin team gets some lovely comments in our Google reviews, and we think there is a reason for that.
They don’t just answer the phone and find an empty box in the schedule. They know our physiotherapists, their areas of expertise and who might be the best fit for what you are dealing with.
More importantly, they can talk directly to us.
If you are in a lot of pain and can’t find an appointment, our admin team will often speak directly to one of our physiotherapists to see what we can do.
Sometimes we can fit you in. Sometimes another physiotherapist on the team is an equally good fit and can see you sooner. And sometimes a cancellation opens up another option.
We can’t promise we’ll always find an appointment, but we will certainly try.
That is something an online booking system, as much as we love Jane, can’t quite replace.
Not Sure Who You Should See? Please Call Us.
Sometimes the hardest part of booking online is knowing who to book with.
What you see online is the availability in Jane at that moment, but that doesn’t necessarily mean there aren’t other options.
Our admin team can look at other physiotherapists, upcoming availability and cancellations. And if you are in a lot of pain, please tell us.
We know how difficult it can be when you are hurting and just want some help. Our admin team will talk directly with our physiotherapists and we will do everything we can to get you in as soon as possible.
We have been known to work a little scheduling magic.
Should I Book an Assessment or a Treatment?
If you are new to Avenue Physio, you will book a physiotherapy assessment. This gives us time to understand what has been happening, complete a thorough assessment and start developing a treatment plan with you.
If you are a returning patient and we have seen you within the last six months, you can usually book a regular treatment.
If it has been more than six months since we last saw you, we ask you to book an assessment. This gives your physiotherapist a little more time with you to reassess how things have changed and make sure your treatment plan still makes sense.
Coming back with a completely new problem? An assessment may also be the better choice.
And if you have absolutely no idea what to book, don’t spend ten minutes trying to figure it out.
Give Avenue Physio a call or send us a text. (403-234-9004) One of our lovely front desk team members will help you figure it out.
One on one physiotherapy in Downtown Calgary. Trusted since 1984.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I book a physiotherapy appointment online?
Yes. Avenue Physio offers online booking through Jane, allowing you to see available appointments, choose your physiotherapist and find a time that works for you.
Can I book physiotherapy online after the clinic is closed?
Yes. That is one of the things we love about online booking. You can look at available appointments and book through Jane even when our front desk is closed.
Do I need a referral to book physiotherapy?
In most cases, you can book physiotherapy directly without a physician referral. However, some extended health insurance plans may require a referral for reimbursement, so it is worth checking the requirements of your individual plan.
What if I don't know which physiotherapist to book with?
Call or text us. Tell our front desk team a little about what you need help with and they can help match you with an appropriate physiotherapist.
What if I can't find an appointment online and I'm in a lot of pain?
Please call us. Our admin team can look at other appointment options and can speak directly with our physiotherapists to see whether there is another way to get you assessed sooner. We can’t guarantee that an earlier appointment will always be available, but we will do our best to help.
Is it better to book physiotherapy online or by phone?
Neither is better. Online booking is wonderfully convenient if you know what you need. Calling is helpful if you have questions, can’t find an appointment, aren’t sure which physiotherapist to choose or simply prefer talking to someone.
